Fall Reflections

Hello Friends

This has been an absolutely gorgeous Fall! We enjoyed a nice trip to Naples a few weeks ago- let’s just say some of us got way too much pie and butternut squash- but oh well- it makes for good eating! Great job too handling a trail that was unexpectedly, well, just not there at times! I think we experienced some good “group building” moments helping one another along…and some were bold enough to explore some cool places- like Ryan who crawled under a rock right by the waterfall…

This week we continue in our Bible Study with the book of Joel. I’ll be honest, this has been one of the most challenging Bible Study’s to prepare for- I really must do my homework! But it has been awesome being challenged by God’s Word, wrestling with questions and with Scripture, and certainly desiring to hear how I can receive God’s Word for my own life. The community that gathers every Thursday at my house has truly been a blessing. If you wanna join us, we are there every Thursday at 7pm at 30 Warren St., 14620.

I’m looking forward to Sunday, November 2nd and some Apple Picking at Whittier Fruit Farm (219 Whittier Road, 14624). From there we’ll head over to the Bala’s home (29 Lamp Post Drive, Rochester 14624) where we get to enjoy some homemade soup or chili and bread and have a place to hang out and do whatever. When: Sunday, November 2 (if you wanna carpool or caravan, we’ll leave from Edgewood at 2pm, or you may meet at Whittier at 2:30pm). If you’ve got any questions, give me a holler (727-4165).

Beyond that, I would challenge all of us to do some reflecting in this season- how are you doing in your walk with Jesus? Are you finding time and space to get away the grind of work and life busyness and find refreshment and rest? Are you proactively connecting to God and others? I hope you know that I’m praying for you, and I’m delighted to encourage you any way I can (and I know many of you could say the same!)

Blessings

Allison

An Afternoon in Naples

WithGRIMES13s.gif (32121 bytes) Fall weather officially here, that means that the leaves on the trees are beginning to change and that Fall fruit is ready to be eaten. What better place than Naples? There is every kind of grape-whatever you can think of- available…and most importantly, Monica’s Pies. Besides delicious treats, Naples also has one of the best hiking spots around: Grimes Glen. There is a path (which is more obvious at certain points than others…) that follows Grimes creek and leads to several waterfalls, two over 60 feet tall. Also, being situated near Canandaigua Lake, and surrounded by rolling hills and lots of trees, the scenery is perfect for taking in the Fall colors. Our plan is this: meet at the church at 2:30pm on Sunday, October 5th and carpool down to Naples. We will first make some purchases at the local markets and stands, then on our grape high, hike the Grimes Glen trail. We’ll return to Rochester in the evening. This is one of my favorite events, so I hope you can make it!

A Summer Evening Kayaking

"When a boat is heading towards you, get out of the way"

Advice:

Some Pathseekers spent a most enjoyable summer evening kayaking on the Erie Canal in Fairport. The weather was perfect and the scenery and company delightful. Fortunately, with Tom as a visual aid, we got ever so important instruction on how to kayak most effectively, particularly how to handle the big waves that we may encounter! Afterwards, we got some gelato and ice cream, and took a stroll on the canal path. There are many fun things about walking with a group of people in the pitch black of night, many discoveries…All in all it was a great night!

Out with the old, in with the new!

Ladder Ball Craziness

Ladder Ball Craziness

Hey Friends,

Welcome to the new Pathseekers blog. I hope you will use this site to stay connected to what is happening, share your comments, thoughts, ideas, and check out our latest stuff. The latest news is that Pathseekers Bible Study is moving back to Thursdays at 7pm at Pastor Allison’s house (30 Warren St., Rochester 14620). We are going to be studying the Minor Prophets together, and as usual, conversating, eating, and enjoying good company.

I look forward to seeing you all soon (even if you do threaten me with ladder balls!)
